Married to Gary Thompson for 49 years, having 2 daughters and one granddaughter. After teaching elementary school for 8 years, I decided to go to law school. My husband stayed in West Virginia while the girls and I packed up and went on the law school adventure. 3 years later, I graduated from University of Kentucky law school, where I had also obtained my undergraduate degree. When we came back home to West Virginia, I opened a law office and at the same time worked as an assistant prosecutor, which gave me valuable trial experience. I call on that experience everyday now as a judge.

In 2008, I was elected Family Court Judge, where I served for more than 5 years. In 2014, I was elected to fill an unexpired circuit judge term, and was appointed to take the office early by Govenor Tomblin. Two years later, I was re-elected to serve the regular 8 year term. Over the past 15 years, I have presided over hundreds of cases, including multimillion dollar civil cases, criminal cases, issued search warrants, adoptions, started a successful drug court, implemented a sexual offender supervision program and of course hundreds of domestic cases. These years of experience have made me qualified to serve as your circuit judge. I have restored honesty, integrity and respect to the office.

I am independent and not influenced by family or politics. I am a Judge for the PEOPLE, not politicians. It has been a successful journey, but I’m not finished. The job has been a blessing and I know I have made a difference in a lot of lives. This is a serious position and I appreciate its importance to the people I serve. I stand on my record and experience and I am asking for your support in electing me for another term.
